Originating in south of France, the blending of these three grape varieties is a classic. Australia has since produced a variety of styles gaining popularity for its famous fruit-forward Shiraz. Expect a bold, fruity and full-flavoured wine with notes of black cherry, blackberry, spice and dark chocolate.

A brief history on Grenache and Mourvèdre:

Grenache on its own is considered to be just as important as Cabernet Sauvignon. Blind tasters are known to appreciate the candied fruit roll-up and cinnamon flavours. The aromas of Grenache can vary depending where it’s grown, usually releasing subtleties of orange rinds and ruby-red grapefruit.

Originating from Spain, Mourvèdre is a meaty, full-bodied and rustic wine with an abundant mix of aromas. One can expect an explosion of dark fruit, flowers, thyme and red meat. The best pairings for this red wine calls for rich meats to absorb the tannins such as pork shoulder, beef short ribs, rabbit, and veal. For vegetarians, look forward to a meal consisting of lentils, wild rice, and shitake or portabello mushrooms.

Sangiovese Merlot. Red.

Italian Sangiovese Merlot

Considered to be the “chameleon” of the wine world, Sangiovese is a savoury wine and offers a wide range of tastes from earthy and rustic to round and fruity. However, regardless of where it’s grown, it always presents cherry flavours and subtle notes of tomato. As Sangiovese ages, one can find the aromas will move towards dried cherries, figs and roses.

Rosso Superiore. Red.

Italian Rosso Superiore

SWEETNESS: Dry

OAK: Medium

BODY: Medium

A blend between Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, this wine is deep in colour, high in tannin, robust and intense on the palate. One can expect earthy notes of mushroom and black fruit. Pair it with your favourite grilled meats such as a prime rib roast or creamy mushroom lasagna.

The Syrah grape variety is a rich and powerful red wine that’s darker than Cabernet Sauvignon. It is behind the production of some of the world’s most darkest full-bodied red wines with dark fruit flavours such as sweet blueberry. The taste of Syrah is packed with flavours that finishes with a spicy peppery aftertaste. Due to this, Syrah is often blended with a mid-palate such as Cabernet Sauvignon, making the wine taste more complete.
