Winemaking and Sustainability

At Wine Butler, we’re committed to changing the way people enjoy fine wine and promoting sustainability in the wine industry. We believe that bottling wine is a better choice for the environment, and here’s why:

Every time you make wine with us we sterilize and re-use your bottles each time. Glass bottles contributes significantly to the wine industry’s carbon footprint. In fact, glass bottles are the largest source of carbon emissions in the wine industry. A single standard 750ml bottle of wine creates about 5 pounds of carbon-dioxide emissions when trucked from California, Oregon or Washington (where 90% of all US wine is produced) to a restaurant or wine shop. In contrast, re-using a bottle of wine create zero emissions!

If everyone in North America switched to  to bottling wine greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by about two million tons, or the equivalent of retiring 400,000 cars!

Recycling in the North America is a flawed system, and many counties are taking their residents’ recycling to the landfill. Over 3 billion wine bottles go to landfill in the every year. Only 31 percent of glass is recycled in North America

At Wine Butler, we’re dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and providing a luxury experience for our members.

By choosing Wine Butler, you’re making a positive impact on the environment. Use code BUTLER for 40% off your first order and shop our wines today.
