The Ideal Serving Temperatures Of Wines

03-10

The serving temperature of wine can make a great difference. The temperature of the wine has an effect on the aromatics.  A temperature that is too cold will reduce the aromatics; and if it’s too warm it will release the aromatics too quickly. One way or another you will not be experiencing the finest of the wine.

A refrigerator will usually operate at approximately 34°F to 40°F (or 1°C to 4°C). This range is too cold for any wine.  Room temperature is typically between 68°F/20°C and 79°F/26°C, which is too warm for red or white wine to be enjoyed properly.

                    Wine Minimum Temperature Maximum Temperature
Light White Wines 42°F / 5° 45°F / 7°C
Fuller Bodied White Wines 48°F / 8°C 51°F / 10°C
Lighter Red Wines 60°F / 15°C 64°F / 17°C
Full Bodied Red Wines 64°F / 17°C 67°F / 19°C
