Tips On Making Your Own Wedding Wine

So you’re getting married and you want the best, but need to keep your costs in line. With a little pre-planning you can make your own wedding wine to be served at your reception or for gift giving.

If you are planning to make craft wine for your wedding, consider the following:

> Your choice of wedding wine will depend on the foods you plan to serve. Select an uncomplicated red or white wine or both. Having a choice of red or white at the table for your guests is probably the best idea.

> Best to clear it with the management of the venue you have chosen as to whether they accept craft wine. While they may agree, they may also enforce a corkage fee which needs to be added to your budget. If you decide to make your own wine, you will require a LCBO Special Occasions Permit.

> Make your wine in advance so it’s not one of the thousand last minute ‘must dos’.  In fact, getting your bridal party to help you bottle and design the labels is a great way for them to get to know each other.

> Personalized wine labels really add a wonderful touch to a bottle of wine, and they make a great take-home memory of the special day.
